Welcome to My Blog
A nation is blessed by the behavior of it’s citizens. Yes, we as Christians can affect the spiritual health of America as well as our nation’s prosperity, peace and strength. God covered it all in His Holy Book and if we desire to live in peace and prosperity as a nation, then we need to follow the guidance of our Creator.
Blessings for Obedience
28 If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2 All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:
3 You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.
4 The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.
5 Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed.
6 You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.
7 The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.
8 The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.
9 The Lord will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to him. 10 Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear you. 11 The Lord will grant you abundant prosperity—(Deuteronomy 28:1-9)
These verses of Scripture are Old Testament when the people of God were under the law. Since the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, we live under grace. This means that if we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and start an about face to live life as He instructs, we use the law of God to guide our actions. We are forgiven of all sin past, present and future but God’s plan for living doesn’t change. We will be blessed abundantly when we choose to follow His ways.
Christ’s sacrifice changes individuals and then nations. Accepting Christ as our personal Savior, means we are washed by His blood/ DNA- and the Holy Spirit takes up residence in our spirit to change us. We change little by little by the tweaking of our conscience by the Holy Spirit. This process of sanctification comes from the new desires emerging from our heart due to being washed by Christ’s blood.
After giving my life to Christ, I remember watching a few intellectuals discussing their greatest concerns for the nation on television. I thought “this doesn’t even matter, why are they wasting their time discussing this?” This is was an episode in my life of God exposing secular ignorance and allowing me to see this discussion of world events as insignificant in God’s eyes.
“When there is moral rot within a nation, its government topples easily. But wise and knowledgeable leaders bring stability.”(Proverbs 28:2)
When people exercise their free will to revolt against God’s way, chaos and instability are the result. This leads to individual states writing their own laws of right and wrong and confusion results. Without a centralized idea of right and wrong a nation will be divided and this nation will fall- it’s simply a matter of time. God’s truth is the only answer and the only solid foundation of everything.
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”(Prov 16:18)
We can turn from pride- or choosing our own way of life- to humility and submission to God at any point. It starts by realizing that our Savior had a plan when He created the world. And if He had a plan, then it is a perfect plan because He is perfection itself.
If we exercise our free will to give our lives to Christ and follow His Truth, little by little the nation will change. The behavior of it’s citizens will be a living sermon and evidence that God’s way leads to a purpose greater than our job.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”(Gal 5:22-23)
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”(Prov 9:10)
When people know Christ, they are self governed and realize that living outside His will leads to destruction. There is something called the “fear of the Lord” and it’s a healthy knowledge of the power of the Lord and an understanding of who is actually in control.
When the United States was established and Universities were being built, the founders of our greatest universities like Harvard, knew that the only sound education in any nation was to know God.
“Let every student be plainly instructed and earnestly pressed to consider well the main end of his life and studies is to know God and Jesus Christ which is eternal life, John 17:3, and therefore to lay Christ in the bottom, as the only foundation of all sound knowledge and learning.”
(Harvard University student rules and precepts 1646)
The United States became a great nation because it was build on followers of Jesus Christ- there is no other way to be great -as an individual or nation.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His inheritance!”(Ps 33:12)
