Welcome to My Blog
The Bible is the best selling book of all time. It contains the powerful Words of our Creator who desires to teach us how to live and raise our families. God’s Word is the most powerful and dependable Words we will ever experience.
“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God stands forever.”(Isaiah 40:8)
Think about a person who says they will do something and they do it- every time. They are so reliable that you never have to wonder if they will follow through. Now think of that same scenario but in terms of God. Our heavenly Father can’t lie – His Words are reliable. When He spoke, He gave strength, peace, rest, help and direction. He also in many instances healed people.
“In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.”(John 1:1)
Jesus is the Word of God materialized, that is why we capitalize “Word” when we are speaking about Scripture. If Jesus materialized through the Word of God, and He tells us to use His Word, what else can materialize through God’s Word? Can we pray away mountains of problems? Apparently yes:
“Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted to him.”(Mark 11:23)
“As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my Word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”(Isaiah 55:10-11 NIV)
If we exchange “Jesus” in place of Word” in this verse we will see that it is Jesus who materialized through the mouth of the Father and He did not return to heaven until He accomplished His purpose on earth. His purpose was to teach us that by believing in Him as our Lord and Savior and studying Scripture, we will learn how to pray, how to live and how to use His Word to conquer all evil that comes against us from the enemy. This is why Jesus died.
Our job is to read and memorize the passages of Scripture that pertain to our situations. When we do this, we are depositing faith into our heart and faith and obedience are the keys that create the promises of God to come to come to fruition.
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”(Romans 10:17)
Faith is not a mental ascent- believing in our minds that God and Jesus are real. Of course that is part of it, but it is more than a thought, it is a substance.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Heb 11:1)
Faith is actually the Word of God, read and meditated on so that it goes from our head into our heart until we know that it is pure truth. Think of faith as food. When we consume food, the nutrients and fat in the food change our tissues and chemistry. If we take in too much of one nutrient and not enough vital nutrients, our body changes and the effects will eventually emerge. What we consume determines what happens to our body and thus how we feel.
It is no different when we “consume” the Word of God. If we take in the Word of God- the Bible- daily, we are depositing faith into our mind and heart.
We don’t think about how the vitamin C in an orange will assimilate inside our body and prevent rickets and provide antioxidants. We simply eat it and nature does it’s work. Scripture is the same, it is alive and active and has an effect on our body.
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
The Word of God supernaturally penetrates our heart, causing us to understand what needs to change in our life and why. If we stick with a solid daily reading plan and ponder the profound verses we read, the Word of God will end up changing our mind, our will and our emotions- thus our circumstances.
“Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O LORD, God of hosts.”(Jeremiah 15:16)
We will find as we consume the Word of God sincerely, it becomes so desirable to us that we may find ourselves almost running to the Bible to read it. It is a supernatural draw once we have a true heart to understand it.
And he said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly with this scroll that I give you and fill your stomach with it.” Then I ate it, and it was in my mouth sweet as honey.”(Ezekiel 3:3)
Every Word of the Lord is reliable and will come to fruition- BUT we have a part to play. We have to read it, speak it outloud so we hear ourselves say it, and follow what we have learned. A constant diet of the Word of God can cause our faith to move mountains.
God desires to help us parent well and create a life that is family/love focused. Let’s encourage each other to dig into Scripture as we would a good book, letting His Words soak in and penetrate our soul. When we do this, we will know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that God makes good on His promises to those who follow His ways.
God is not human, that he should lie,
not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill? (Num 23:19)
Food for thought,
Lisa
