The Power of Words: Why Mingled Seeds Don’t Bear Kingdom Fruit
In the Old Testament, God gave the Israelites a clear instruction: do not mingle your seeds when planting your crops(Leviticus 19:19). This wasn’t just agricultural advice—it carried a powerful spiritual principle. A mingled seed produces a compromised harvest. It lacks the strength, purity, and ability to reproduce the way God intended.
In the spiritual realm, words are seeds. Every word we speak plants a thought, and every thought eventually leads to an action. This truth is revealed in the story of Adam and Eve.
When Satan tempted Eve, he planted a seed with his words. That seed took root in her mind. She looked at the fruit again—now with new thoughts—and saw that it was pleasing and desirable for wisdom. She ate it. (Genesis 3:6)
Satan’s words became a seed that led to disobedience. In the same way, when we read God’s Word but then speak words contrary to it, we nullify the spiritual power of Scripture in our lives. It’s like planting faith in one row and doubt in the next. I can’t believe for healing and then talk about how my family members have this same disease and I’m bound to have it as well. If I believe that I was healed by the stripes of Jesus (Is 53:5), I need to stick with that powerful truth and not negate it with my speech.
Jesus said in Mark 11:23:
“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.”
This promise is powerful—but it’s conditional. The verse after it states: “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” God’s promised blessings have conditions and they include a surrendered life, consistent confession of sins of omission and comission and walking in step with our heavenly Father’s teachings.
If you pray with faith but later say something like, “I’ve learned so much from this problem, I can’t imagine life without it,” you’ve just negated your own prayer. We must consistently confess the same thing!
From the 1960s to the 1980s, the Word of Faith movement was popular because it emphasized the power of speaking Scripture-based prayers to get anything a person desired. According to Wikipedia:
“Distinctive Word of Faith teachings include physical, emotional, financial, relational, and spiritual healing for those who keep their covenant with God. The movement urges believers to speak what they desire, in agreement with the promises and provisions of the Bible.”
This movement correctly emphasized that our words have creative power, based on verses like Romans 10:8 and Mark 11:22–24.
However, one crucial element was often left out: obedience.
You can quote Scripture, believe God’s promises, and still miss out on their fulfillment if your life doesn’t reflect obedience to God’s Word. Jesus said in John 14:23:
“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”
We cannot expect our prayers to be effective if we are harboring unforgiveness, living in disobedience, or ignoring God’s commands. Obedience and forgiveness are not optional—they are foundational.
To stay in rightstanding with God:
We walk in righteousness not through our own strength, but through the power of the Holy Spirit.
When Jesus walked the earth, He brought the Kingdom of God with Him. This Kingdom represents the manifestation of heaven on earth—healing, provision, peace, love, and power.
Jesus told His disciples:
“Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 18:18)
This means that your words matter. They release or restrict the will of God on earth.
If you live in obedience, speak faith-filled words, and do not contradict God’s Word with your everyday speech—you will see your prayers answered.
The entire earth was spoken into existence by the Word of God. That same Word is settled in heaven and has unshakable authority.
“For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.”(Ps 119:89)
You and I have been given the ability to pray Scripture-based prayers to bring heavens blessings to But we must do so with:
Let’s stop mixing seeds. Let our words, prayers, and lives align fully with the Word of God.
