The Resurrection

Kingdom of God

Filed In

What was given to believers at the resurrection? We were given a clean slate, free of condemnation for our poor behavior (aka sin) as well as the ability to participate in the abundant life.

The Resurrection showed all people as well as Satan and his demons, that Jesus Christ is the all powerful Lord and Savior of the world.

“God raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in heavenly places” (Eph 1:20)

The resurrection showed us the door to God’s kingdom and gave us the keys. No longer would a believer in Jesus Christ be locked out of blessings and left in condemnation.

The Old Testament taught us that all transgressions of the Law would result in terrible circumstances. Deuteronomy 28:15-47  lists the consequences.

[Jesus] having canceled the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.(Col 2:14)

You see, from the beginning, God created human beings to love- much like couples choose to have children in order to love and enjoy them.  But God knew that a reciprocal love couldn’t be forced on us, therefore He gave us free will. The first couple, Adam and Eve were given the choice to love God by obeying or to decide for themselves what was right.

“Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”(John 14:21)

Sin entered The World

Adam and Eve chose their intellectual reasoning as superior to God’s Word.

This is sin in a nutshell.

We need to remember that God is supernatural, therefore His ways are far beyond what our human intellect can understand. No person has a better way of doing things than the Lord Jesus Christ. How can a created being have thoughts and ideas superior to their Creator? We can’t.

“See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.” (Col 2:8)

The curses were the byproduct of living life opposed to God. They include poverty, sickness and spiritual death which keeps us from all that is good. These consequences- even though very unappealing- didn’t stop humanity from sinning, therefore a new plan needed to be carried out.

The Permanent Plan To Block Sin From Ruining Our Life

Jesus was sent by God to live on earth enduring the worst that humanity could dole out, yet stayed sin free. This made Him our spotless “Lamb” that could take the punishment we deserved.

“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”(Romans 8:32)

God desires to give us the best of life. He gave us the keys to the kingdom. Through our prayer life we can pull heavens best down to earth including healing of diseases, loneliness, anxiety, poverty and every human caused affliction known to mankind. Because of this, we have access to everything a human being could need through our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. We don’t need to chase after anything. Our relationship is our access to receiving all we need. We can rest in the hands of our Savior. We can work, yet not excessively and know that God will provide for all future needs as we walk in His ways.

“Seek first the Kingdom of God and all these things will be given unto you.”(Matt 6:33)

“Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”(Ps 37:4)

If we seek Jesus and learn everything He taught about living, He will guide us; sometimes He guides in a gentle whisper, sometimes as a nudge within, sometimes through other Christ followers and sometimes through circumstances. We need only to sit in His presence daily by reading His Word.

” I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 1:18-20)

Believers were given power at the Resurrection. This power can bring all of God’s original plan to earth- which includes provision for everything we need so that we can enjoy life. Jesus died not only for our sins, but to give us all things. We need not chase after anything, He is our provider and desires that we enjoy His creation which includes our family.

The world makes us think everything is up to us, and that we must sacrifice our time with our children and spouse in order to provide for them. But the world is sadly mistaken- there was only one sacrifice that needed to happen and it happened over 2000 years ago. Now we must dig deep into Scripture in order to take part in our inheritance.
