The Keys To The Kingdom Of God

Kingdom of God

Filed In

The keys to the Kingdom of God are found in Scripture, revealing how we can bring heaven’s blessings to earth. Supernatural help, divine provision, healing, and miracles are all part of God’s rule and reign—things we can access through prayer.

In heaven, there is no lack, no sickness, and no evil. Because of this, we can experience a taste of heaven on earth—but only if our lives align with God’s principles. While every believer in Jesus Christ will spend eternity in heaven, we can experience a more abundant and blessed life here on earth by following His teachings.

Accessing The Kingdom Through Jesus’ Teaching On Prayer

Jesus provided a clear example of how to invite heaven’s power into our lives through prayer:

“This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father who art in heaven, Holy is your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, now and forever. Amen.” (Matthew 6:9-13 NIV)
Through this prayer, Jesus teaches us that we can actively participate in bringing God’s kingdom to earth. We do this by studying the Bible, listening to sermons, and seeking His truth. As we grow in understanding, we realize that true life begins when we surrender to Christ, putting us in a position to receive His conditional blessings.

“If you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” (Matthew 19:17b)

Access To The Kingdom Through The Victory of Christ

The Good News of the New Testament is that Jesus defeated Satan at the cross. Since Christ conquered death, those who surrender to Him are spiritually positioned “in Christ.” This means when we pray, it carries the same authority as if Jesus Himself were speaking.

“I have given you the keys to the kingdom. Whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven. Whatever you loose on earth is loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19)
Yet, many miss out on this supernatural power by neglecting the Bible and church. Instead, they rely on their limited human reasoning to navigate life’s challenges. But God’s wisdom is unchanging, perfect, and infinitely greater than our own.

“God is not human that He should lie, not a human being that He should change His mind. Does He speak and not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?” (Numbers 23:19)

Faith Is Key Not Intellect

Even in Jesus’ time, people debated who He was, relying on intellect rather than revelation. But one disciple, Simon Peter, received divine insight from God:

“Who do people say that I am?” Jesus asked.
Simon answered, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

This crowd used earthly reasoning to determine Christ’s identity. But when Jesus asked Simon directly, his answer was different:

“But what about you?” He asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus responded:

“Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:15-19 NIV)

This “revelation knowledge” did not come from human understanding but directly from God. Jesus declared that His powerful church would be built on this divine wisdom—wisdom we, too, can access today.

The Power of Speaking God’s Word

A key principle of the Kingdom of God is speaking only what Jesus taught in order to release heaven’s blessings into our lives. At the same time, we bind Satan’s influence by refusing to agree with negativity or fear.

For example, if someone declares a fatal illness without following it with God’s promises, they allow the enemy to maintain control over their health. Even Jesus used Scripture to resist Satan:

Jesus responded to Satan with: “It is written…” (Matthew 4:4-6) and then quoted a Scripture that pertained to the situation. We must do the same. When facing sickness, instead of merely acknowledging it, speak God’s promises:

“The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness, You restore him to full health.” (Psalm 41:3)
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” (Proverbs 18:21)

The Role of Angels In The Kingdom

Angels play a significant role in bringing God’s Word to pass in our lives. When we declare Scripture in faith, they move to fulfill it.

“Bless the LORD, all His angels, mighty in strength, who carry out His word, who hearken to the voice of His command.” (Psalm 103:20)
“Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.” (Hebrews 1:14)

Because of this, we must be intentional about speaking words of faith, never contradicting God’s promises with doubt or fear.

Conclusion: Unlocking The Kingdom’s Power

The key to unlocking the Kingdom of God is to use Scripture as a weapon against Satan’s lies. When we are obedient to God’s Word and speak His truth, nothing can defeat us. By committing to daily study of Scripture, we:
Strengthen our faith
Experience more blessings
Shorten the duration of our struggles
Walk in victory over every challenge

“Bless the LORD, all His angels, mighty in strength who carry out His word, who hearken to the voice of His command.” (Psalm 103:20)
God has given us everything we need to live in victory. Will you take hold of it?
